Philippine-based indie game studio Ranida Games have announced that their latest game, Sinag Fighting Game is now available for pre-registration on Google Play. Southeast Asian gamers may know Ranida Games for their previous fighting game, Bayani.

Sinag is the first 1v1 fighting game that combines the allure of Philippine mythology with deep and engaging gameplay mechanics. It also offers a journey of cultural immersion that pays homage to the beauty and diversity of the Philippines.

While shining a spotlight on the culture of the Philippines, Ranida Game ensures that Sinag Fighting Game offers a wealth of depth and complexity that can attract casual and dedicated fighting game players worldwide.

As one of the grant winners of The Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) inaugural Computer Games Grants Program, SINAG feature contents derived from the CCP Encyclopedia of Philippine Art.

The CCP grants programs for game developers is a digital game project initiated by the CCP Board of Trustees with the objective of conserving the country's rich cultural legacy, including folktales, myths, and legends.

Upon its full release, Singa will feature eight playable characters and eight background stages for players to choose from. Unlike most mobile fighting games that rely on swipe controls and cooldoen dependant moves, Singa features a four-button control layout and a combo-heavy game style.

While Bayani features characters based on historical figures, Sinag’s cultural character roster includes:

  • Juan, who represents the Filipino everyman
  • Anna Luna, based on Philippine mythical creature White Lady
  • Daragi, based on Filipino folklore creature Tikbalang
  • Amon, based on Filipino folklore creature Kapre
  • Bathala, based on ancient mythology supreme being Bathala
  • Bugan, a male warrior based on Igorot ethnic group
  • Tala, a female warrior based on Igorot ethnic group
  • Mara’t Clara, based on Philippine mythical creature Manananggal

Head on over to the Google Play Store to pre-register for Sinag Fighting Game, with the game also slated to release on the App Store and PC. By completing the pre-registration process players will be eligible to receive the exclusive in-game reward "Boracay Stage" once the game is launched.
