Pokémon: Detective Pikachu is set to premiere in May, and the hype for the upcoming film featuring Ryan Reynolds, Justice Smith and Kathryn Newton has never been greater. Having said that, a new trailer from China teases a showdown between Gyarados and Charizard brought the anticipation to a greater height!

The dual-type Water/Flying Pokémon introduced in Generation I is seen making a big spashy appearance onto the battledome, opposite of the fire breathing Charizard and the titular electrifying critter.

The water-type Gyarados versus the fire-type Charizard has always been regarded as one of the more iconic Pokémon matchup. And it is great to see that rivalry being brought onto the big screen.

In this latest trailer, we got to see more glimpses of interactions - the little chatter and banter between the confident Lucy (Kathryn Newton), the timid Tim Goodman (Justice Smith) and the witty Pikachu (Ryan Reynolds), looks like it generate some good sparks and be an absolute delight to watch.

Additionally, the China trailer also comes with a different poster that catches all the Pokémon in one design.

Detective Pikachu hits theaters on May 10, 2019, and it should offer a ton of hilarious and entertaining moments, like Detective Pikachu interrogating Mr. Mime in a scene of Good Cop/Bad Cop.
